Beginnings

First post, new blog.

The idea of a food blog is not new.  I read many, I hear about even more than I have time to read, and now, my own!  This is something I've been thinking about for awhile but have shied away from, mostly because I felt that without a theme, what's the point...?  As I ruminated on the idea, yet again, over brunch this morning, my sister aptly noted that it's totally okay to have a food blog without a specific theme and helped me to settle on a name, so here it is.

My vision for the blog is simple-documentation of the food around me both at home and on my travels.  Those who know me know that this is not a new pursuit.  At age 7, I sent home postcards from camp that detailed the delicious camp food.  Last year I called my old boss to ask for a reference for a new job that would regularly take me to Africa and his words were: "I can see it now, H traveling through Africa taking pictures of all of her food.'  When I travel (and even when I don't), my boyfriend regularly receives cell phone photos of my various culinary adventures; when we started dating I even kept a list, 'Meals for Mw' of all the foods I'd cooked for him.  I have a FB photo album just of food photos taken with my cell phone.  At brunch this morning, I took photos of both my own food, and my sister's.  It's clearly time to channel all of this food energy; this blog will thus provide me a central location to post photos, recipes, and restaurant reviews, and to convey my culinary enthusiasm to my friends, family, and beyond.  (And don't worry Mw, I'll still email you lots of pictures from my phone!)
